Performance and Health

We study the importance of intrinsic factors (anthropometric, genetic, psychological, etc.) and extrinsic factors (training, material, etc.) related to injuries in sport. Intervention programmes can therefore be developed with the purpose of minimising and even avoiding injuries in athletes. It also contributes to optimising athletes’ performance by ensuring their health.

Physical Activity and Health

The Physical Activity-Health binomial is of great importance in Western culture, and especially in Galicia, where rates of a sedentary lifestyle are increasing considerably as are the diseases that are associated with this lifestyle. This suggests that problems such as obesity are not only due to a pattern of overeating, but that insufficient exercise is also adversely affecting a large part of the population.

It is necessary to analyse healthy habits at school age due to the fact that numerous studies indicate that among these habits, performing regular physical activity is imperative for providing undoubted benefits, both for physical health as well as psychological.
